DH was engaged by OMNI life science, to provide overall project management of the relocation their headquarters from Taunton, MA to Raynham, MA. Because of existing landlord constraints to commence their own construction project, the entire OMNI project team was immediately faced with very short timelines to accomplish the OMNI project. Listening carefully to OMNI’s management team and observing OMNI’s needs, DH immediately selected R.E. Dineen as the project architect and worked with their recommended engineers to survey and develop a cost-effective layout for OMNI’s new headquarters facility in an empty shell 40,000 s.f. metal building which OMNI had just leased. With the initial layout, DH then worked with potential contractors before selecting DACON to accomplish a modified design-build process for OMNI. By integrating the architect and engineer’s directions and objectives, DACON worked seamlessly with DH, OMNI, and the building’s owner to create a significantly improved OMNI headquarters facility in less than 8 weeks, an exceptional accomplishment with a shell building which needed all of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other interior fit-ups from scratch. Because of the constant communications and clear decision process established early by DH and the team, the OMNI project was completed ahead of schedule and some 10% under budget, with a high level of interior finish, and considerable satisfaction on the part of OMNI.
DH took the lead on furniture procurement for OMNI. DH surveyed the existing casegoods and provided detailed re-use and installation plans. DH guided OMNI through the selection of new workstations and oversaw the installation schedule.
The move-in was accomplished in phases which corresponded to OMNI’s needs, and were completed by July 6, 2016. OMNI’s operations of supplying custom artificial knees and hips continued with no interruption to clients, and the new, more open facility has significantly increased the staff’s collaboration and cooperation, improving OMNI’s productivity while reducing costs and delays in their previous operation in Taunton. OMNI’s founder and chairman has stated that he is delighted with OMNI’s decision to engage Dowling Houy to lead their relocation, and that he and others at OMNI are truly amazed at the speed and positive results which the project produced.
