Dowling Houy (DH) was brought on board in June 2016 to assist ARIAD Pharmaceuticals with building consolidation as their lease was expiring at 64 Sidney in Cambridge. The 100 person, 3 phase move included internal shifts at the existing headquarters at 26 Landsdowne and the staff move from 64 Sidney. Several office and furniture modifications were required to accommodate an influx of staff. In addition to the moves, DH conducted a furniture inventory for disposition and determination of what furniture could be reused at 26 Landsdowne or stored for future use.

After project completion, in late August, ARIAD determined they would make a final move into their brand new headquarters at 125 Binney Street in December 2016 and asked DH continue services to help facilitate the lab and office moves.

DH worked closely with ARIAD on programming the new 125,000 sf facility.  ARIAD purchased all new furniture and allowed end-users to select either a file or bookcase as storage, however seating was not finalized by time of installation.  DH tracked all seating and, as part of pre-move activities, DH oversaw the movers with the final installation.

Facing a fast approaching move date, DH quickly jumped into the lab relocation portion of the planning. Though base programming had been done for the major pieces of lab equipment, DH needed to re-inventory all the bench top items and sit down with each user group and provide a detailed plan of where every piece went and confirm the required utilities were in place. DH worked with ARIAD in contacting all equipment vendors and managed the master schedule for the disconnect and reconnect services. DH managed to have all equipment disconnected, moved and reconnected in the two week window allowed by ARIAD’s schedule.

For both projects DH ran all the move meetings for the lab and office moves and issued weekly minutes. DH wrote and issued the mover / rigging RFPs, oversaw the walkthroughs and provided a detailed summary of bids. DH maintained the master move schedules, issuing weekly updates. DH oversaw all move activities for offices, labs and the disconnect / reconnect of all desktop computer equipment. DH worked with ARIAD to develop all move communications for their staff for ease of transition and provided all packing, post move and welcome packet materials. DH manned a post move command center and centralized all PM Requests, tracking all towards completion.
