Dowling Houy was hired by Investment Technology Group (ITG) in the fall of 2008 as the overall project manager for a complicated two phase project consisting of constructing three interior floors of offices, a trading floor, and multiple computer rooms. During the first phase, Dowling Houy also coordinated the installation of a 600KW stand-by emergency generator, to support the trading environment, as well as serve as a Business Continuity site for other locations. This work was achieved in a Financial District high-rise office building.
During this phase, Dowling Houy also recommended a data center design consultant and oversaw their work on the 2,500 square foot data center, which supported the 50+ seat trading floor and software development teams. It was designed to serve ITG throughout the full term of the lease.
During Phase II, Dowling Houy managed the design and construction of an additional 25,000 square feet of support offices, as well as 11,000 square feet of expansion space.
At the end of each phase, Dowling Houy conducted a formal project review with the full project team and the client to identify what went well, what could have been done better, and to make recommendations for future project phases. The client reported benefiting greatly from participating in these project reviews.
