Dowling Houy was hired by Aspen Technology (AT) on May 1, 2012 to relocate the Houston office which consisted of 220 staff members with move dates of May 12th (content only) and 18th (staff, Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FFE).
Dowling Houy was tasked to relocate the staff to their newly renovated space; finalize locations for all reused furniture and fixtures (white boards, seating, conference and training tables); oversee the final days of construction; dispose of unwanted equipment; remove all furniture in the temporary locations, and clear out the five floors of rented furniture which the staff had been temporarily using.
Dowling Houy inventoried all furniture slated for reuse and started tracking to / from data as locations were finalized. Dowling Houy provided lay outs for all storage / file rooms for the HR, IT, and Mail rooms and obtained sign offs from all groups. Dowling Houy was responsible for labeling all FFE with its new location and overseeing the installation by movers.
Dowling Houy worked with AT’s staff to review content of filing cabinets and boxes which required staff to retain a limited volume of stored materials, and to purge the remainder. A significant amount of equipment was not being reused so Dowling Houy worked with AT’s internal IT group to review the equipment and coordinate the removal of any unwanted equipment.
Dowling Houy created all materials used by staff for “How to Pack” and “Welcome” packets which detailed the new space and amenities. Dowling Houy ran the move crews for all pre- and post move activities. The local mover commented they had never worked on such a well-organized move such as AT’s.
