Summary:

Dowling Houy (DH) served as the project manager for this relocation project which moved E Ink from their original Cambridge location to Billerica. Since E Ink did not want to shut down their operations, DH created a phased schedule to strategically migrate both the Manufacturing / Lab and Administrative offices beginning in May 2013 and completed in September 2013.

Relocation Management

  • Developed and issued the Mover RFP
    • Oversaw walkthrough and interview process
    • Provided a detailed summary of the top three bidders
  • Managed all move meetings for both the lab / office moves
    • Issued weekly minutes
  • Created the To / From employee database
    • Tracked move phases for each head
    • Used by E Ink’s internal Welcome Committee for Day One Orientation & Safety meetings
    • DH staffed all office moves (no E Ink personnel participated) and
    • Provided Post Move Support for each of the five Administrative moves.

Furniture and Equipment Management

  • New workstations and offices were purchased, but files, seating and conference room furniture was reused.
    • Provided a detailed inventory and database and tracked by phase when furniture migrated to the new building.
    • Created the move labeling system for all staff and FFE that relocated to Billerica.
    • These actions resulted in no downtime at the two primary locations.
  • Engaged after the moves to provide E Ink with an inventory of all FFE left in their Cambridge facilities and worked with them to determine liquidation vs. disposal of these products.
